Celebration of Life Tour

Dubrovnik, Croatia

This beautiful city has ancient roots, and, like most of the cities in this part of the world, was reduced to rubble and 5,000 of its citizens killed by a disasterous earthquake in 1667. More than three quarters of its public building were destroyed at that time. The city was rebuilt, only to suffer further indignation from seven months of shelling by armed forces during the turmoil that followed the breakup of Yugoslavia. The city sustained damage from 650 artillery rounds and 114 civilians were killed. Once again, the city has been beautifully restored.

One of the primary features of Dubrovnik is the wall that completely surrounds the city. The wall walk is a popular attraction, even though it involves 1.2 miles and hundreds of steps. The views of the city and the sea are spectacular. From the wall you can peer down into the everyday lives of people that still live on the ground below.
