We entered the park from the Shoshone Junction road, coming into the valley south of the Badwater basin. We explored a small wash leading down into the valley complete with antique tin can, visited what's left of the Ashford Mill (circa 1914), and then branched off on the lest traveled west side road. For the most part a simple drive up the west side is pretty much just hot and dusty. It does provide access to a couple of interesting canyons and historical sites, but darkness was fast approaching and we opted to bypass those opportunities in favor of others.
