Saguaro National Park, East Unit
The golden leaves of an Ocotillo just about ready to drop its leaves. These plants can have several crops of leaves per year, depending on wet/dry cycles. Much of the year they are just bundles of prickly sticks. Then the rain comes, leave pop out, and sometimes flags of red flowers at the end of the stems.
