Celebration of Life Tour

Viking Star

We chose Viking primarily for the itinerary they offered as well as their philosophy, based on years of running smaller river cruises around the world. The Viking Star is a smaller ship, with fewer than 1,000 passengers - significantly smaller than many of the behemouths that run the Mediterranean. The itinerary offered featured smaller ports, almost every one one including a UNESCO World Heritage attraction.

The ship's decore is understated Scandinavian with spacious cabins. There are no inside cabins, and all have outdoor verandas with beautiful views. The crew was fabulous, food was great, shore excursions were well organized, and we felt the itinerary was spectacular. Yes, Viking is expensive, but this was a once in a lifetime celebration. Then again, perhaps fewer, higher quality trips is a viable option? We were more than pleased and will consider Viking again for future cruising.

I didn't take a lot of pictures of the ship, but here are a few, including our tour of the bridge - Viking Star
